The petmail agent I'll show you today can run as an SMTP and POP proxy in
 front of your normal MUA, so that you get to compose and read messages in
 your regular mail program. It is a separate program with its own interface,
 but it could eventually be merged into the MUA directly, as a plugin of
 some sort.
